Ancient Star Charts

This collection is based on some ancient star charts dating back to Ancient Egypt and Greece. These devices were fashioned to map the heavens and improved with time and technology.

Astrolabe

This piece is primarily based on astrolabes with a colour palette of pink, green and browns.

Astrolabe Blue

53 x 79cm

This is a larger piece inspired by astrolabes. In a similar colour palette as the previous piece however with a base of blue.

Globe

40 x 51cm

This piece is inspired by the armillary sphere. This is an ancient device consisting of rings around a central sphere. Depending on the model, it could be a geocentric model based on Ptolemy and his earth centred model. Or it could be heliocentric, based on Copernicus and his sun centred model.
